Chiefs Coach Andy Reid says newcomer Josh Gordon could play Week 5
Shortly after star WR Josh Gordon was reinstated by the NFL, the Kansas City Chiefs inked him to a deal.
The Chiefs brought him aboard with the expectation that it would take some time to get himself acclimated to his new surroundings. Meanwhile, he would get into football shape. However, he’s quickly blown past that as NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport is reporting that Gordon could pay as soon as Week 5 against the Buffalo Bills.

“He might,” Rapoport said. “This is something that I heard over the weekend that Josh Gordon impressed so much at practice physically and mentally as well picking up the playbook that shares some similarities to when he was in Cleveland. “He might actually make his debut just a week after joining the team.”
Gordon still has a ways to go toward learning the offense with significant comfort. Still, he’s already accomplished enough to garner consideration to playing his first game in only a week. The Chiefs will monitor the situation as the week rolls along. Although he could take the field on Sunday for a few plays.
Kansas City will bring him along as he grows more comfortable with the offense as he could play a pivotal part in the team’s push toward another Super Bowl. The Chiefs can only gain from his presence on the field. He’s a proven deep-ball threat along with being a legitimate red-zone target.

It’s been the off-the-field issues that have prevented him from playing in the NFL. The opportunity with the Chiefs may be a golden opportunity to rekindle his career.
The situation should garner more clarity as it moves closer to Sunday night’s primetime matchup against the Buffalo Bills.
