NFC East: Giants Losing Streak Tightens it Up
Oh those New York Giants. They just can’t do it the easy way can they? Maybe they don’t like playing home games in January? It sure does seem that way doesn’t it? The Giants were 7-7 after 14 games last year before they kicked it into gear and won out from there, claiming their second Super Bowl in the last five years. In the first half of this season, they looked as if they might actually finish near the top of the NFC and grab some home field advantage for the playoffs. But the second half has gotten off to an 0-2 start and it looks like if they do get into the playoffs, they’ll be on the road again.
Last week the Giants were clobbered by a rather pedestrian Cincinnati Bengals team 31-13 as they fell to 6-4. They now lead the Dallas Cowboys by only one game in the loss column in the NFC East. The Cowboys thumped the Philadelphia Eagles on the road to move to 4-5 and drop the Eagles to 3-6 and tied for last in the division with the Washington Redskins. The Eagles have decided to scrap the rest of the season and turn the offense over to rookie quarterback Nick Foles. Coincidentally, he will get his first start against the Redskins and their rookie quarterback Robert Griffin III.The loser of this game can look toward next season. Most likely their head coach will be looking for a new job.
The Cowboys will play host to the 2-7 Cleveland Browns on Sunday with hopes of pulling to within a game of the Giants, who are on their bye week. The Cowboys should win this game. But we’ve seen them lose a lot of games in recent years we thought they should win. The Browns have a terrible offense with their rookie quarterback Brandon Weeden. But their defense is not all that bad. In fact it’s pretty good. It’s just not quite good enough to make up for a putrid offense.
TopBet has the Redskins at -3.5 -110 or -195. The Eagles are +3.5 -110 or +165. Over/under is 44. We like the Redskins -3.5 in this one. A rookie QB starting this late in the season is bond to struggle against defenses with over half a season under their belts. The Eagles offense was already awful. Look for it to be a complete disaster on Sunday. So also, we like the under.
The Browns are +7.5 -110 or +305. The Cowboys are -7.5 -110 or -365. Over/under on this one is 43.5. We like the under on this one too. We also think the Browns defense can keep them within the point spread on this one so take the Browns +7.5. We like Dallas to in the game though so if you have a large wad of cash, the Cowboys straight up is also a good bet.
