Pelicans’ Zion Williamson ‘kind of getting a feel’ for the game again
Throughout much of the offseason, the focus around the New Orleans Pelicans has centered on star forward Zion Williamson.
Williamson is coming off missing the entire 2021-22 campaign due to a broken foot that didn’t allow him to play. The All-Star big man made his return to the court in the Pelican’s preseason opener, scoring 13 points in 15 minutes on the floor.

After the game, Williamson voiced excitement and optimism about getting back into the mix.
“Couldn’t show them everything,” Williamson said via ESPN. “But just kind of getting a feel for it again. Find spots. Picking and choosing where I want to attack. But, I got a new team since the last time I played. I’m still learning some of the guys. Today we were able to click. I feel like if we can do that for the rest of these preseason games, I feel we’ll be in pretty good shape.”
Williamson used the offseason to get his body in better shape to prepare for the physical rigors that come with an entire regular-season campaign. He looks leaner and has regained the same physical explosiveness that created all the buzz and excitement around him.

There has never been a question concerning his talent, but rather whether he can stay on the court. He has struggled with his health, and that created significant doubt about his health.
Williamson has an opportunity ahead to prove that he can maintain his commitment to his health and diet to allow him to prove he’s the franchise cornerstone that can push the Pelicans to success.
