Cowboys place veteran WR Brandin Cooks on IR
After an impressive start to the 2024 NFL regular season, with an inspired win over the Cleveland Browns on the road at Huntington Bank Stadium, the Dallas Cowboys were thought to have put their ugly offseason behind them and were back on track as a legitimate Super Bowl title contender in the NFC.
Unfortunately, the first month of the 2024 campaign for America’s Team has been rocky. The Cowboys have struggled on both sides of the football while also dealing with injuries to key players like Micah Parsons and DeMarcus Lawrence.

Ahead of Week 5’s clash with the defensive-minded Pittsburgh Steelers on the road at Acrisure Stadium, the Cowboys lost another notable player, with veteran wide receiver Brandin Cooks being put on injured reserve, according to Todd Archer of ESPN.
The Dallas Cowboys placed wide receiver Brandin Cooks on injured reserve because of a knee issue, which will keep him out of at least the next four games, the team announced Saturday.
With Cooks, who was arguably the second-best wide receiver on the team behind superstar CeeDee Lamb, out for at least the next four games, Dallas will have to turn to some players that many have probably never heard of via ESPN.
The Cowboys are counting on Jalen Tolbert, Jalen Brooks, KaVontae Turpin and Ryan Flournoy in Cooks’ absence behind CeeDee Lamb. Cooks has nine catches for 91 yards and a touchdown.
It remains to be seen whether the loss of Cooks will be devastating for star quarterback Dak Prescott and the Cowboys offense, but it can’t be good, especially with the team playing mediocre football.
The Cowboys are 2-2 heading into this matchup, losing two of their last three games.
