NFL Draft prospect Travis Hunter gets Shohei Ohtani comparison

As the 2025 draft inches closer, Colorado standout Travis Hunter remains one of the highly touted prospects.

Much of the chatter sits around his two-way ability, playing on both sides of the ball. Cleveland Browns general manager Andrew Berry voiced that he believes Hunter is worthy of a top draft pick selection.

“It’s a little bit like Ohtani, where when he’s playing one side, he’s an outstanding player,” Berry said Thursday during his predraft news conference via ESPN. “If he’s a pitcher, he’s a hitter, he’s an outstanding player. You obviously get a unicorn if you use him both ways.”

Hunter showcased his two-way ability after earning the Heisman Trophy award last season. He notched 96 receptions for 1,258 receiving yards and 15 touchdowns.

He ranked second in touchdown catches in the FBS, while his four interceptions were tied for the third most in the Big 12. Beyond that, he played in 1,481 snaps on offense and defense, putting him almost 300 more than any other player in the FBS.

All that has led Hunter to adamantly voice that he wants to play both sides of the ball in the NFL.

The Browns possess the second overall pick in this year’s draft, which makes Berry’s remarks that much more intriguing. Berry added that he views Hunter as primarily being a wide receiver, but could also see using him as a defensive back.

Cleveland remains open to all options at their selection, which could see Hunter becoming the choice come Thursday night.
