Garrett Wilson wants to be a ‘Jet for life’

New York Jets star wide receiver has left no mystery on where he wants to play the foreseeable future of his NFL career ahead.

Wilson voiced a strong desire to stay with the Jets well beyond his rookie contract.

“I’m hopeful I’m a Jet for life and that we get this thing rolling and that all of our best days are ahead of us,” Wilson said Wednesday after the Jets’ first open OTA practice via ESPN.

The former NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year is under contract through the 2026 season, putting more pressure on the Jets to ink their star wideout to a long-term deal.

Through his first three seasons, he has notched at least 80-plus catches and 1,000 receiving yards in each campaign. He’s coming off arguably his best campaign, where he notched career highs with 101 catches, 1,104 receiving yards, and seven touchdowns.

However, given how the 2024 season unfolded, there had been lingering doubt about Wilson’s long-term commitment to New York. He was growing unhappy about the situation, but that has since changed this offseason.

First and foremost, the Jets are moving in a new direction with first-time head coach Aaron Glenn. The team shifted gears under center, moving on from Aaron Rodgers to his former Ohio State teammate Justin Fields.

Glenn has also voiced that the team needs to get the ball to Wilson as much as possible within the offensive game plan next season.

New York is experiencing a seismic shift, and Wilson is more than excited and enthralled to be part of its long-term future.
