Raiders suffer major blow with Kolton Miller injury

The Las Vegas Raiders have not gotten off to an ideal start to the 2025 NFL season, with new head coach Pete Carroll struggling to get this new-look squad on track.

Along with coming off a heartbreaking loss to the Chicago Bears, where kicker Daniel Carlson’s game-winning field-goal attempt was blocked in the closing seconds of the fourth quarter, the Raiders also lost arguably their best offensive lineman to an ankle injury. Miller will now be placed on injured reserve, according to ESPN’s Ryan McFadden.

Las Vegas Raiders starting left tackle Kolton Miller sustained a high ankle sprain and a hairline fracture in Sunday’s 25-24 loss to the Chicago Bears, a source confirmed to ESPN.

He’s expected to be placed on the injured reserve list.

The Raiders already had problems on their offensive line, which has prevented the team’s offense from clicking the way many anticipated it might throughout the first few weeks of the 2025 campaign.

Losing Kolton is a massive blow, which has forced Carroll to turn to Stone Forsythe at left tackle, with rookie Charles Grant potentially getting some playing time as well.

With Miller sidelined, Carroll said that offensive tackle Stone Forsythe will be the team’s top option to slide in at left tackle.

Forsythe is in his first season in Las Vegas after spending the previous four seasons with the Seattle Seahawks. He has started in 14 of 57 career games.

Carroll added that rookie Charles Grant will have an opportunity to compete for playing time.

Only time will tell how the Raiders bounce back from this loss of Kolton and the team’s three-game losing streak.
