Big 10 Bowl Game Preview
The Big 10 has a handful of Bowl Games ahead of them. Unfortunately with Penn State and Ohio State ineligible for bowl games this year every Big 10 team in a bowl game finds themselves as the underdogs.
There are seven Big 10 teams heading into bowl games. If these teams can overcome the odds and upset each of their respective opponents then the Big 10 can go a long way in changing it image of being a sub par division. If they lose the will only slip farther down everyone’s radar.
Capital One Bowl
Nebraska vs. Georgia
Georgia is ranked number six in the nation. Nebraska finds itself under a +10 point spread.
Rose Bowl
Wisconsin vs. Stanford
Wisconsin is unranked going up against the number eight team in the nation. Wisconsin’s dismal 8-5 record also leaves a lot to be desired. The game though is a lot closer than one would might think when looking at the odds. Wisconsin is the under dog with a +6.5 point spread.
Outback Bowl
Michigan vs. South Carolina
This one looks like it should be a close one on paper. Michigan is ranked 19th in the nation and South Carolina is ranked 11th, but take a look at their win/loss record and you will see that South Carolina at 10-2 to Michigan’s 8-4 has an advantage. South Carolina is the favorite with a -5.5 point spread.
Taxslayer.com Gator Bowl
Northwestern vs. Mississippi State
This is one of the closest games in the Big 10 with a -2 point spread slightly favoring Northwestern.
Heart of Dallas Bowl
Purdue vs. Oklahoma State
Oklahoma State is the overwhelming favorite to win this game. Which makes one wonder how these two teams even got paired up to begin with. Purdue is the 16.5 point underdog in this game.
Buffalo Wild Wings Bowl
Michigan State vs. TCU
This is another close game with Michigan State only an underdog with a +2.5 point spread.
Meineke Car Care Bowl
Minnesota vs. Texas Tech
Texas Tech is the overwhelming favorite with a -13 point spread.
