NCAAF: Fresno State vs Wyoming Preview

While many are looking ahead to Nov. 29 when Fresno State takes on their last big challenge of the season in New Mexico, Wyoming is looking to spoil the No 17 ranked Bulldogs perfect season.  Consequently, a Wyoming win would also eliminate any chance at Fresno State as a BCS buster.

Many eyes will be on LSU versus Alabama.  However, Fresno State versus Wyoming may very well rival the previously mentioned game in entertainment value.  This game is going to be a quarterback duel. Also Wyoming is 3-1 at home and as a tendency to put up a ton of points even when they lose.

Derek Carr will lead the Bulldogs on the road against the 4-4 Cowboys.  Wyoming is lead by a very impressive passer named Brett Smith.  Smith is not just a passer, he can also run the ball and extend plays.  He has no fear on the field and will not think twice about throwing a deep ball.

It is important to keep in mind that the Bulldogs have had four games decided by on possession, two of which went into overtime. Wyoming has the talent to match Fresno State touchdown for touchdown.  This could very well be another close one.

Both these quarterbacks have a favorite receiver that are also putting up some impressive performances.  Over on Fresno State’s side is Davante Adams.  He is a solid all-around receiver boasting size, strength and power.

Robert Herron will be catching the ball most of the time when Smith throws the ball. Herron has a tendency to burn defenders on long passes and will be testing the Bulldogs secondary all day.

If Wyoming wants to upset Fresno State there defense will have to overcome the eighth ranked pass offense in the country.  The Bulldogs defense will also have their hands full with the 20th best passing offense in the NCAA.

This game game could come down to whichever team get to make the last drive.  Not only are sports analysts predicting this is going to be a high scoring game, Bovada has the over/under set at 80 points. With neither team ranked in defense and having high octane offenses, an over 80 point games is not out of the realm of possibility.

The game starts at 8:15 p.m. ET on Saturday.  Fresno State is favored by nine points.  You can watch it on ESPN 2.
