Wyoming versus Boise State Preview

Tomorrow the Boise State Broncos will host the Wyoming Cowboys.

These two Mountain West Conference teams will be looking to make the most of the last three games of the season.  For Boise State, a win today will secure their spot in the MWC championship game against the West Division winners.

Wyoming is simply looking to play spoiler to Boise State’s championship aspirations. Wyoming sits at 2-3 in the division and 4-5 overall. The Cowboys have been inconsistent, taking good teams to their limit and also getting beaten by not so good. If they hope to defeat Boise State their whole teams is going to have to show up an excel.

Wyoming is second in the MWC in total offense.  They average 491.6 yards per game. They are ranked 27th in the nation in passing offense. Running back Shaun Wink has put up 823 yards on the season and has nine touchdowns.

Boise State’s defense is capable of stifling Wyoming run defense.  If that happens then Wyoming is going to have to try and defeat the Broncos with a one dimensional offense.  It is not out of the question for The Cowboys to beat Boise State through the air.  The Broncos are ranked 104th in pass defense and are giving up an average of 269 yards per game.

Boise State has also been contending with some injuries.  However, after a bye week of rest, this team may come into this game rejuvenated.  New starting QB Brian Hedrick has also given this team a boost. Two weeks ago he completed 19 of 27 of his passes for 5 TDs and 305 yards.

The Broncos will have a balanced attack as their rushing offense is ranked 23rd in the nation. They average around five yards per rush. The Cowboys defense is going to have their work cut out for them trying to defend against this dual threat offense.

Boise State are the big favorites in this game with a point spread set at -24 points according to Bovada. The books are also expecting this one to be a high scoring affair with the over/under set at 69 points.
