Connecticut Versus Memphis Preview
One of the biggest games of the evening is the Connecticut Huskies versus the Memphis Tigers.
The Tigers are ranked 17th in the nation. While Connecticut is just on the outside looking in of the top 25. Â In the last round of voting they received 35 votes, the third ranked compared to all other non-top 25 teams. A win against the ranked Tigers could see Connecticut breaking into the top 25. Â However, a loss for the Tigers could see them drop off the list of the best teams in the nation. Both squads have a lot to play.
Memphis will be looking for it third consecutive AAC win. They will also be playing at home, which gives the favorites even more of an edge. Memphis has been on a roll as of late. Â They picked up a win against Temple on Saturday. Before that they were able to upset Louisville, who ranked No. 12 at the time.Â
In their last game the Tigers got the advantage by pulling down offensive rebounds. Â They picked up 17 points on second chances alone. Shaq Goodwin has picked up his play as of late. Â He scored 23 points and pulled down 11 rebounds in his last outing.
UConn is nine of 12 against ranked opponents on the road and will be looking to improve that record against the Tigers.
These two teams have not played each other since the year 2007. Â Both teams have changed significantly since then, though the Tigers did manage to pick up the victory.
The sports books have the Tigers as the favorites with a point spread between -6.5 and -7.5 points. The moneyline to bet on Memphis hovers around -285 while the moneyline for the Huskies is +240 and +250. The game starts at 7 p.m. ET and can be watched on ESPN.
