Tigers To Begin Series With White Sox

It is still too early to check the standings and make post season predictions, but if the current American League Central Division standings were a vision of the future it looks a lot like it has over the last few years.

The AL Central Division has been a three, sometimes four-way race that leads all the way to the final game of the season for the last two seasons.  Two of the teams that have been in that mix over the last couple years, the Detroit Tigers and Chicago White Sox, are set to begin a series that will be interesting to watch from the division’s perspective.

The Tigers have been a mainstay in the AL Central mix for the last couple years, while the White Sox sat out last year as the Cleveland Indians took their place in the rumble for the Central.

The White Sox played a lot like that other team in Chicago last season and are looking to make up for it.  Thus far they have a winning record and sit in third in the division but are only a couple of wins away from first place.  They have also won six of their last nine games.

The Tiger meanwhile have night played in a while. Their Sunday game was rained out and they had Monday off.  The question is will they be rusty or rested?

Good news is the rotation got shuffled up and Tigers ace Justin Verlander will kick off the series with the Sox.  In fact, Verlander beat the White Sox in his last start on April 22.

The Sox will be sending left-hander Jose Quintana  to the mound.  He has only won one game out of six starts. His last outing was against Detroit in which he allowed three runs over six innings in a losing effort.

The point spread has the Tigers as the favorites. The game is scheduled to start at 8:10 p.m. ET.
