…And Suddenly The 49ers Are Favorites Again

The San Francisco 49ers started the season looking like they were in rough shape.

The barley got by the Dallas Cowboys in Week 1 and then dropped two in a row to the Chicago Bears and Arizona Cardinals, not exactly the best teams in the NFL. They then picked up a pair of ugly wins against the Philadelphia Eagles and Kansas City Chiefs. They now finally look like they are in game shape again after dismantling the St. Louis Rams on Monday Night Football.

Our very own Amber Lee has already pointed out how important the win was for the 49ers. It is also important note how important it is for those who are putting money on San Francisco.

Over the last few weeks the 49ers have steadily fell out of favor with the sportsbooks, dropping as low as the ninth best odds to win the Super Bowl. However, with their impressive performance last night they have launched back up to 9/1 to win the Super Bowl, the fourth best odds in the league.

In large part bettors who have the 49ers going to the Super Bowl can thank Colin Kaepernick. Kaepernick had a nearly career best game. His stats were eye popping going 22-of-36 passing for 343 yards, three touchdowns, no interceptions and three rushes for 37 yards.

The 49ers are now beginning to put to rest their reputation as a team that completely drops in the second half. Even their close win against the Kansas City Chiefs shows they are capable of performing late in the game again.

The 49ers’ banged up O-line still have Kaepernick scrambling too much, but with each week they get better and better.

Week 7 is just around the corner, though, and the 49ers do not have a lot of time to celebrate their season recovery, as the biggest test they have faced all season awaits them in prime time on Sunday.

The team with the best odds to win the Super Bowl, the Denver Broncos (4/1) are ready to see if they can shut down Kaepernick.

The odds may be putting the 49ers near the top of the heap, but I am not ready to call San Francisco true Super Bowl contenders until they have a good showing against the Broncos.
