Kansas City And Miami Both Have Something To Prove
From a season stand point, both the Miami Dolphins and the Kansas City Chiefs must really feel like they need a win.
The Dolphins got there season kicked off with a huge win against the New England Patriots but turned around and lost to the Buffalo Bills. They need a win to get back on track.
The Chiefs are 0-2. They took a close one-possession loss to the Denver Bronco in Week 2, which is forgivable. However, they also lost in Week 1 to the Tennessee Titans, who got crushed by the Dallas Cowboys, viewed as a weak team in the NFL, in Week 2. Kansas City needs a win now. Only three teams in the history of the NFL have started 0-3 and gone on to make the playoffs.
From a bettors perspective there are also some important things to pay attention to. The Dolphins are the -4 point favorites according to the spread. The Dolphins, though, are 1-3 against the spread in their last four games as home favorites. The Chiefs are 3-1 against the spread in their last four games as road underdogs.
As good as that looks for those who are looking to bet on Kansas City, another trend to pay attention to is the Chiefs record when playing in Miami. Kansas City has lost seven of their last eight visits in Miami.
The Over/Under is at 43 as of this writing. Â Neither teams offense is particularly impressive. The Chiefs rank 26th in total offense. while Miami ranks 21st. Miami’s defense 9th in the league, while the Chiefs defense is 23rd. If the game goes under 43, it will be because of Miami’s defense.
The Chiefs offensive ranking may be a bit deceiving, as after they got wrecked by the Titans they managed to cover the spread against Denver. If they have a similar outing we could see a closer game than expected.
The smart pick is likely with Miami, given all the question marks as to which Chiefs teams is going to show up on the field today. Plus the Chiefs are 4-6 against the spread over their last ten games.
The game starts at 4:25 p.m. ET. Â You can watch it on CBS.
