Cowboys working on ‘pretty substantive trades’ ahead of NFL Draft
As the 2025 NFL Draft quickly approaches, the Dallas Cowboys may be cooking up some significant moves.
Owner and general manager Jerry Jones voiced after Tuesday’s predraft news conference that his team is working on getting “pretty substantive trades” done involving players.
It’s been quite some time since the Cowboys have made a massive move, with the last notable transaction being acquiring wide receiver Amari Cooper midseason in 2018.
Dallas sits in a beneficial spot financially with roughly $37 million in salary cap space, allowing them to take on more salary if moves lie ahead.

The Cowboys have been largely quiet outside of trading for linebacker Kenneth Murray Jr. and cornerback Kaiir Elam. The franchise also hasn’t worked out a long-term extension for star pass rusher Micah Parsons, who Jones has repeatedly voiced confidence that a new deal with get done.
“Believe me, if we could sign Micah to a number we wanted to sign him to, we’d do it right now,” Stephen Jones said Tuesday via ESPN. “But right now there’s a difference in what we feel like is the right number and what he feels like is the right number.”
He is in the final year of his rookie deal that pays him roughly $24 million for the 2025 season. Reports suggest that he could soon receive the largest non-quarterback deal in NFL history.
Parsons has remained involved in the early parts of the Cowboys’ offseason program, which could be a telling sign that the Pro Bowler is confident a new contract will be in place.
