Adrian Peterson Says Teddy Bridgewater’s ‘Mediocre Passes’ Reminiscent of Tom Brady
Adrian Peterson has incredibly high hopes for the Minnesota Vikings and quarterback Teddy Bridgewater.
He compared Bridgewater to none other than Tom Brady in an interview withPFT Live on NBC Radio Friday.
“He reminds me of a Tom Brady because Tom Brady is great at those mediocre passes,†Peterson said, per Pro Football Talk. “Those short passes and midrange passes and that’s exactly what Teddy does as well. He’s the type of guy that needs the receiver that runs routes and that’s at a specific location that you’re practicing.â€
We’re not sure what “mediocre passes†is supposed to mean, but we get the point here.
Bridgewater, like Brady, isn’t blessed with a Joe Flacco-like cannon and isn’t going to make many “oh-my-god-did-you-see-that†60-yard Hail Mary bombs we’ve grown accustomed to seeing from Aaron Rodgers.
What he can do, however, is make precise throws on time and move an offense down the field with efficiency.
That said, he’ll need help. Peterson also addressed this in the interview, acknowledging the truth of that statement.
“So I feel like with the additions that we’ve made to the offensive line and of course me envisioning what I’ll be able to bring to the offense as well I think that’s going to make his job a lot easier. With that he’ll feel more comfortable and he can really get back there and just play his game. So I’m expecting big things from Teddy this year.â€
Bridgewater has been lauded by many top-level draft analysts. They see the type of potential Peterson sees and likely are nodding their heads in agreement with his statements.
Still, perhaps Peterson would have been wise to keep his Brady comparisons tight to the vest at this stage. Bridgewater is still an up-and-comer, while Brady has won four Super Bowl titles and is going to be considered the GOAT when he’s finished.
There is no need to heap more pressure on the shoulders of Bridgewater, who still has a long way to go before he can life up to those expectations.
