AFC Championship: Patriots Favored On The Road Against Broncos
And then there was four.
Only four teams remain in the pursuit of Super Bowl title in the NFL with the New England Patriots, Denver Broncos, Arizona Cardinals, and Carolina Panthers being the teams left standing. These four teams were the best of the best during the regular season making it only fitting it would come down to two more epic battles of elite squads before Super Bowl 50.
Although the Cardinals and Panthers will be a competitive game and must-see television for any NFL fan, the most anticipated matchup on Sunday will be the Broncos and Patriots going toe-to-toe in the Mile High City. This matchup of AFC heavyweights will perhaps the last time future Hall of Famers Tom Brady and Peyton Manning face one another with the winner potentially being the favorite to win it all on Feb. 7 in Santa Clara.
At this point in time, the Patriots are favored to come out on top in the AFC Championship Game. Manning and company may be hosting this showdown at Sports Authority Field at Mile High, but it will be the defending Super Bowl champions that are expected to advance with a -3.5 point spread, according to Sportsbook.ag.
New England made easy work of the Kansas City Chiefs in the Divisional Round handing Andy Reid’s squad their first loss in 12 games. Brady and company are firing on all cylinders once again and just the right time but will have a mountain to climb in trying to get the best of the Broncos’ lockdown defense.
The Patriots are as capable as any team in the NFL of dismantling an excellent defense and may be able to do just that come Sunday. The real question in this game is whether Manning will play like the Manning of old or remained limited as he has been all season long.
Although this game can go either, New England has the better track record coming into this matchup. Bill Belichick’s squad will be on the road, but taking the Patriots at -3.5 seems to be the safe bet.
