Alabama’s Cyrus Jones Arrested For Domestic Violence
According to Tuscaloosa Police, on Tuesday evening University of Alabama cornerback Cyrus Jones was arrested on domestic violence charges after allegedly threatening to assault a woman and damaging her cellphone.
Based on the account of the victim and a witness, Jones the domestic violence charges of harassment and criminal mischief are both misdemeanor offenses. A junior out of Baltimore, Jones averaged more than three tackles a game starting every game in 2014 for the Tide.

Although on the scale of football player arrests, the charges Jones is facing aren’t particularly serious, which is actually sad more than anything else. We’re reaching a point where, unless a brutal assault is captured on video, someone will find a way to explain it away and eventually the public will just forget about it.
And we’re not just talking about the high-profile cases last season in the NFL, Bama players have now run afoul of the law four times since March. Defensive lineman Jonathan Taylor was actually was booted from the university following allegations of domestic violence, the same charges that had previously got him kicked out of Georgia.
Except coach Nick Saban to hold a press conference any day now, talking about what a great guy Jones is.
