Anthony Davis Injury Was Something ‘I’ve Never Felt Before’

Anthony Davis is in line to return from the longest injury enforced absence of his NBA career on Thursday night.

While he’ll likely only play 15 minutes against Dallas, it prepares him for a timely return in LA’s playoff run.

Anthony Davis last played on February 14 and has missed the Lakers’ last 30 games. He says it’s the worst injury he’s had in his nine year career.

“It was something I’ve never felt before as far as pain,” Anthony Davis said.

“I didn’t want to have to go through that again.”

“I’ve felt pain there before, just going through the process the first time I injured it, but the second time — knock on wood, I never tore an Achilles, but I kind of felt like sharp pain, like it was ripping, which I never felt before. It was tough to flex my foot. I knew it was something serious. It wasn’t as serious as it could have been, but it was still a pretty significant injury.”

The Lakers’ repeat hopes were under threat when LeBron James was injured a month after Davis. However, the supporting cast have been able to keep them on track for the playoffs.

They are currently 5th in the Western Conference, right behind the Denver Nuggets. If LeBron can return in time for the postseason, the Lakers will be right back in contention.

“I wanted to make sure I was coming back 100%, because it wouldn’t be fair to myself, wouldn’t be fair to my team,” Davis said Wednesday.

“I feel great. These last games leading to the playoffs, a lot of teams aren’t healthy, a lot of players aren’t healthy. I’m 100%, and we’ve got Bron coming back as well who’s going to be 100% healthy. I think we’ve put ourselves in a good position.”
