Blue Jays Look To Recover Against Orioles
The Toronto Blue Jays did not look good last night against the Baltimore Orioles. The 9-3 loss could not have come at a worse time for the Blue Jays as they drop to five games behind the Orioles in the division standings now and have the New York Yankees six games away from knocking them back into third.
Things are not going to get any easier for the Blue Jays as the Orioles will be sending Wei-Yin Chen to the mound.
Chen has not pitched against Toronto this season but that does not worry Baltimore. Chen has the second best win-loss record in the American League and is coming off an incredible outing.
In said outing he only allowed one run over 7 1/3 innings. It was Chen’s fifth straight win.
Chen is 12-3 on the season with a 3.76 ERA overall.
The Blue Jays will counter with Drew Hutchison. Hutchison has been inconsistent at best with a 7-9 season record and overall ERA of 4.62.
The right-hander allowed four runs on six hits over three innings in his last outing against the Houston Astros. Hutchison has gave up at least four runs in three of the last four times he has taken the mound.
The Orioles could further pad their division lead with a win today, while the Blue Jays need the win in order to stay within good standing of taking the division.
The betting lines for yesterday’s game were very close with the Blue Jays having the slight edge. However, since the Orioles dominate performance yesterday they are clear favorites with a -117 moneyline. The Blue Jays moneyline is at +107.
