Broncos QB Peyton Manning ‘Furious’ After Being Linked To PEDs
The 2015 NFL season has been rough to say the least for Denver Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning. Along with clearly not being the same player and eventually losing his starting job to Brock Osweiler, Manning has now been linked to performance-enhancing drugs in an undercover probe by Al Jazeera.
Apparently, Manning is furious over the report that he used performance-enhancing drugs. Manning said the following about being linked to the report from Al Jazeera via ESPN:
“I think I rotated between being angry, furious,” he said. “Disgusted is really how I feel, sickened by it. I’m trying to understand how someone can make something up about somebody, admit that he made it up and yet somehow it gets published in a story. I don’t understand that. Maybe you can explain it or somebody else can.
“It’s completely fabricated, complete trash, garbage — there’s more adjectives I’d like to be able to use. It really makes me sick.”
Manning wasn’t the only big-name athlete in the United States linked to this report. Julius Peppers of the Green Bay Packers was also named as another NFL Pro Bowler that has used performance-enhancing drugs over the years.
The MLB wasn’t immune to having a few stars linked to this report as well with Ryan Zimmerman of the Washington Nationals and Ryan Howard of the Philadelphia Phillies also named. Both players along with Manning have denied these allegations.
As for Manning, the future Hall of Famer is currently in an incredibly tough situation moving forward. The Broncos will stay with Osweiler as their starter moving forward and Manning could be headed for an ugly end to his NFL career. Denver could decide to part ways with Manning in the offseason that may lead him to retire or attempt to play for a third franchise in his career.
Needless to say, Manning’s future remain uncertain with telling how it may end with these allegations hanging over his head as well as potentially being forced out of Denver.
