Bulls Guard Dwyane Wade Out For The Rest Of The Regular Season

The Chicago Bulls may have suffered a devastating blow. Three-time NBA champion Dwyane Wade has gone down with an injury which will keep him out at least the rest of the regular season, according to ESPN:

Bulls guard Dwyane Wade is out for the rest of regular season after an MRI revealed he has a small fracture and a sprain in his right elbow.

Chicago is currently four games below .500 at 32-36 and is trying to keep their playoff hopes alive as they’re only a game back of the eighth spot. Detroit Pistons currently sit in the eight seed with a record of 33-35.

The battle for the seventh and eighth seeds in the Eastern Conference will seemingly come down to the wire with four teams in the mix for the final two spots. The Bulls will try to press on without Wade while in a tight race with the Milwaukee Bucks, Miami Heat, and Pistons.

As for Wade, the future remains uncertain even if the Bulls can clinch a playoff spot. Wade has an option on his deal with the Bulls which would pay him $23.8 million. The veteran guard will be posed with the dilemma of choosing to opt in with a team that may not be going anywhere or opt out of his contract for a long-term deal in Chicago or a chance to win a title with a contender elsewhere.

Needless to say, Wade could on the move once again if he feels Chicago just isn’t the right fit for him in the twilight of his NBA career.

In 57 games this season, Wade averaged 18.6 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 3.9 assists per game while shooting 43.4 percent from the floor and 31.5 from beyond the arc.
