Cam Akers Trade ‘Best Option For All Parties’ – McVay

Head coach Sean McVay has confirmed the Los Angeles Rams will trade running back Cam Akers, depending on the deal.

Cam Akers has struggled for game time since being drafted in the second round of the 2020 NFL Draft.

The highlight of his Rams career is still a 171-yard game against the New England Patriots in his rookie season.

An achilles injury limited him to just one regular season game in his second season. In 2022, Cam Akers has only had three carries and 12 snaps in Week 1.

There appears to be more to the situation than game time, although Sean McVay didn’t reveal what. The only inkling we have is that McVay said Akers missed their Week 6 game because they were ‘working through some things.’

“As of right now, I think the best option for all parties I think would be to explore if there’s a good situation for him with another team,” McVay said. “If that doesn’t come to fruition, I would never say that him coming back and figuring out the best way to be able utilize him and him being the best player he’s capable of is off the table, I would never speak in absolutes like that.

“There is a possibility that we could try to help him look for a fresh new start with another team,” McVay said.

“That’s something that we’ve explored. If that doesn’t come to fruition, then we’ll figure out a solution (on) how to best move forward with him here and those will be things that we’ll work towards over the next couple days.”

“There’s probably a move that will be made in regards to him being with another team,” he said. “If that doesn’t happen, we’ll move forward. There’s a lot of layers to it, but that’s kinda where I’ll keep it.”
