Carmelo Anthony trade talks going nowhere fast
Trade talks between the New York Knicks and Houston Rockets centered around Carmelo Anthony have been “fairly dormant,â€Â according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.
The situation has been in flux since then-Knicks president Phil Jackson openly admitted he wanted Anthony gone. Since then, Jackson has been fired, but Anthony reportedly has no interest in returning to the Knicks. At the same time, however, he has a no-trade clause and seemingly wants only to go to Houston. The Knicks have asked Anthony to expand the list of teams he would waive the no-trade clause.
Houston’s cap situation makes a trade virtually impossible without a third or fourth team. The two sides have tried and failed to find other teams. Now, it looks like Anthony could be coming to camp with the Knicks after all, according to Wojnarowski.
In other words, one of these two sides is going to capitulate and it won’t be the Knicks, in part because they don’t seem to be able to do so. Either Anthony decides he’s okay with teams other than the Rockets or plays with the Knicks this season. As of now, that seems to be his choice.
