Chris Paul opts out of Clippers contract, will become free agent
Not long after it was reported that Blake Griffin will opt out of the final year of his contract, fellow Los Angeles Clippers All-Star Chris Paul has apparently informed his team that he will do the exact same thing.

Unlike Griffin, it almost seems to be a foregone conclusion that Paul will return to the Clippers.
He can sign a five-year, $210 million max deal to remain with the Southern California franchise. That’s a whole lot more than any other team can offer him.
Though, Paul himself has been linked to the San Antonio Spurs — a team that seems to be attempting to find the cap room to sign him.
If Paul is indeed serious about competing for a title towards the end of his career, moving on from the Clippers makes the most sense. Simply put, this squad doesn’t have what it takes to compete with the Golden State Warriors in the Western Conference.
Paul, 32, averaged 18.1 points and 9.2 assists for the Clippers last season. He’s still considered one of the top point guards in the entire league.
