Clippers’ Blake Griffin Doesn’t ‘See’ LeBron James Coming To Los Angeles
This NBA offseason has been absolutely chalk full of drama. From big-name players being traded and changing teams in free agency to rumors swirling about LeBron James’ future in the league. It has been crazy, to say the least.
The one rumor that continues to circulate more than most is LeBron’s desire to join the Los Angeles Lakers next summer. James can become a free agent in July of 2018, and all signs point to him leaving the Cleveland Cavaliers, but Los Angeles might not be his destination, according to Blake Griffin of the Los Angeles Clippers via Complex.com.
“Honestly, I don’t see him coming to L.A. period,†Griffin said. “Listen, again, I have no idea [laughs]. I think something is brewing with him and his group of guys. I don’t know what’s going to happen, but I think something’s brewing and they’re going to try to make that work.â€
Obviously, at this point, it is hard to say where LeBron will end up with any certainty. The Cavaliers do appear to be a sinking ship with Kyrie Irving having already requested a trade, but James has said nothing publicly nor will he until the time comes.
The Lakers will be an intriguing destination with the team seemingly back on the rise with a couple of young stars in Lonzo Ball and Brandon Ingram as well as the cap space to potentially sign one or two superstars next summer.
Whether it all comes to fruition for the Lakers and Magic Johnson’s grand plan to rebuild, remains to be seen.
