Derrick Rose Has To Perform Big
Derrick Rose has barely played over the last two years. There are naysayers claiming that Rose is injury prone or he will not be as dominant as a force due to his injuries or even a lack of confidence after two consecutive major injuries.
Rose cannot wait to make you eat those words…His words not mine:
…Seeing those doubters out there, it’s gonna be funny seeing them eat their words.
Well is confidence off the court definitely is not lacking.
All things considered, Rose is still a rookie. Aside from the 2011-12 season where he nearly led the Chicago Bulls to an NBA Championship, he has only played 50 games.
Rose and Bulls fans feel that they are on the cusp of greatness, regardless. When Rose was healthy he was one of two NBA players people even considered comparing to LeBron James (Kevin Durant being the other). Rose led the Bulls deep into the playoffs even before they have the wealth of talent they do now.
When Rose returns he will have Pau Gasol and Doug McDermott, along with familiar faces like Jokim Noah to back him up and allow him to ease into his return, at least taking some of the pressure off Rose to be a super star.
At the end of the day, though, Rose has to be there and has to be the superstar the Bulls expect him to be. Otherwise, with teams like the Miami Heat and Cleveland Cavilers standing in their way, they will fall.
Rose also needs to perform for his career’s sake. If Rose gets injured again, he will no longer be looked at as a superstar, nor will anyone be willing to bet on him.
