Dolphins close the deal with Jay Cutler

Might Jay Cutler be the Miami Dolphins quarterback for more than just one season? According to the NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, if a few key chips fall the right way it’s “certainly possible.”

“FOX has a three-man booth for him,” Rapoport noted. “They’re keeping it warm. It’s going to go on with Charles Davis now, and Kevin Burkhardt. Presumably, this is just a one-year thing for Jay Cutler. But of course, if he’s having success, if they’re going well, if they can make sure that this is a long-term deal rather than a short-term deal, it’s certainly possible that it can be more than just one year.”

Rapoport also noted that Carson Palmer was actually retired in 2011 before getting dealt from the Cincinnati Bengals to the Oakland Raiders, and that he’s still playing.
