Dolphins push back the start of training camp
The Miami Dolphins have reportedly told their rookies not to report on Tuesday as originally planned. As well as that, further delays are a concern.
According to Barry Jackson and Adam Beasley of the Miami Herald, on Saturday the Dolphins told their rookies to push back their reporting day from Tuesday until Thursday.

This news comes on the heels of an NFL announcement Saturday to confirm that training camps will open on time as previously scheduled.
On this schedule, rookies will be reporting on July 21, quarterbacks and injured players on July 23, and all other players on July 28. Obviously, the Dolphins have decided to at the least push this timeline a bit.

This announcement was made as the NFLPA and NFL continues to remain apart on some key details that could potentially lead to a grievance filed by the players union.
According to Beasley recently, the Dolphins have told players that “everything is up in the air,†and that they “could see things getting pushed back.â€
The reason this is a concern is that Florida is currently one of the world’s COVID-19 epicenters. Some Florida counties have had to impose curfews recently as the state continues to see massive spikes in positive cases.
On Saturday, per Naples Daily News, Florida announced “10,328 new cases – the sixth time in seven days Florida counted more than 10,000 new infections.â€
NFL team doctors have said it is safe to open training camp in hot spots like Florida, however. So it appears that, despite the delay in rookies reporting this week, the Dolphins will likely give it a go.
Some prominent NFL stars have last week criticized the league over it’s unclear Covid-19 protocol. Expect to see other teams raise concerns in the following days.
