Favre: Colin Kaepernick Up There With Pat Tillman
Green Bay Packers legend Brett Favre thinks that Colin Kaepernick will go down in history as a hero.
Colin Kaepernick sacrificed his life’s work – playing football, as a result of his instigation of the Take a Knee movement.
After 6 years under center for the San Francisco 49ers, Colin Kaepernick has not played NFL football since 2016. Last year, the 32-year-old agreed a settlement with the league over his collusion grievance.Â
Brett Favre compared Kaepernick to Arizona Cardinals safety Pat Tillman.Â

“I can only think of — right off the top of my head — Pat Tillman’s another guy who did something similar, and we regard him as a hero,” Favre said.Â
“So I’d assume that hero status will be stamped with Kaepernick as well.”
It would appear momentum is building, albeit slowly, for Kaepernick to return to the NFL. Teams still seem a bit hesitant to be the one to pull the trigger. However, if a team signed him as their second or third quarterback, there is more upside than down.
Favre thinks that despite four years out of the league, Kaepernick could still have a lot to offer.Â

“… It’s not easy for a guy his age, black or white, Hispanic, whatever, to stop something that you’ve always dreamed of doing and put it on hold — maybe forever — for something that you believe in,” Favre said.
“I think from a football sense, I can’t imagine him being that far out of shape or that far out of touch with football that he doesn’t deserve a shot,” he continued.
“… And he’s still young and hasn’t been hit in several years, so there’s no reason to think that he’s lost that much of a step.”
