Sean McVay Offers Intriguing Aaron Donald Update Ahead of Rams Opener

As the Los Angeles Rams prep for their trip to Australia for Week 1 action on Thursday night against the San Francisco 49ers, it will include star defensive tackle Aaron Donald being part of it all.

Head coach Sean McVay confirmed as much, stating that every player on the 53-man roster will head to Australia for the season opener.

On that same note, McVay couldn’t confirm yet if Donald will see the field against the 49ers.

“Obviously, one of the best things you can do is get out there and play football in 11-on-11 settings with pads, your eye progression, taking on some of the double-teams, different things like that,” McVay said via ESPN. “So this week will be a big week for him in terms of how he feels. And then we’ll just kind of take it a day at a time and see where he’s at.

“If he feels good enough to go, great. If not, I’ve got a lot of confidence in the other guys that’ll be ready to step up if that’s the case, that have really gotten all the reps anyways.”

McVay and the Rams are playing the situation very close to the vest to keep all avenues open for Donald. The team isn’t going to rush him back on the field if he isn’t physically ready, especially after not playing for the last two years.

However, the fact that Donald is making the trip does at least significantly increase the likelihood that he will play against the 49ers.
