Finnegan: “If we don’t win it…Lions winning it…”
Cortland Finnegan is definitely right at home with the St. Louis Rams as he is playing under old coach Jeff Fisher. Finnegan has never lacked confidence and just a little over a week after we wrote a piece analyzing football players making football predictions, he is now claiming his team is going to win the Super Bowl, which is hardly a surprise. However, his number two pick for winning the Super Bowl may be a bit of a surprise.
If we don’t win it, I’ll take the Lions winning it next.
-Cortland Finnegan
Finnegan is now added to a list of Detroit Lion‘s players who like the odds of Detroit finally making a Super Bowl run, something they have yet to do. It was not that big of a suprise when Nick Fairley and Reggie Bush pegged their own team as winning the Super Bowl, because, as all the talking heads have pointed out over and over again, if you don’t believe your team can win the Super Bowl then why play. However, why does Finnegan think that the Lions have the second best chance at taking the Super Bowl?
You don’t have the name Megatron for any other reason other than you’re a bad man. So that’s where it’s at. They had a lot of good things going for them. Slot receivers, Stafford is amazing. They picked up some good stuff this year. So Schwartz, he’s always going to put together a good team.
The sports books do not have as much confidence as Finnegan has in the Rams and Lions. The Rams are 50/1 to win the Super Bowl according to Bovada. The Lions are 40/1.
Perhaps Finnegan is simply giving a nod to his old Tennessee Titans Defensive Coordinator turned Lions head coach Jim Schwartz.  Also,. it is important to note that the Lions have many former Titans players on their squad. Maybe this is his way of saying hello.
