Green Bay Packers Move Up In The Odds
After some early season struggles, the Green Bay Packers have clawed their way back to the top of the odds, showing you should never count Green Bay out, or perhaps you shouldn’t count on Green Bay fans not betting on the beloved franchise.
The Packers have moved past the Seattle Seahawks as the team most likely to win the NFC Championship and are now the team with the second best odd of winning the Super Bowl.
They are 3/1 to win the NFC title, compared to the Seahawks 4/1, and 8/1 to win the Super Bowl behind the Denver Broncos.
The Packers had fallen pretty far down the list of Super Bowl favorites in the early part of the season after they lost to the Seahawks, barely pulled out a one-possession win against the New York Jets and lost to the Detroit Lions. Since their loss to the Lions, however, the Packers have not lost a game.
The Packers shift as favorites were also helped by the fact that the Seahawks were upset by the 2-4 St. Louis Rams, 28-26. While the Rams remain 250/1 to win the Super Bowl, the upset helped the Packers move up and gain the confidence of bettors with their 5-2 record.
It is important to note that the Green Bay Packers success has come at a time when they have a fairly easy schedule. Since losing to the Lions, the Packers have beat the Chicago Bears, Minnesota Vikings, Miami Dolphins and Carolina Panthers. None of those team have a winning record. Â Both teams the Packers have played this season that have winning records, they lost to substantially. They were beaten by the Seahawks 36-16 back in Week 1 and lost to the Lions 19-7.
The Packers’ favorable schedule where they play teams that currently have losing records extends all the way to Week 11, when they take on the Philadelphia Eagles who are currently 5-1. That will be Green Bay’s big test to see they are in fact legitimate Super Bowl contenders.
