Heat Playing With Their Backs Against The Wall
The Miami Heat will be playing against the greatest odds they have ever been tasked with overcoming tonight.
The San Antonio Spurs are one win away from becoming NBA Champions for the fifth time after falling to the Miami Heat in the Finals in 2013.
The Spurs hold a 3-1 lead in the NBA Finals and here is the part where the odd become nearly overwhelming for the Heat. Thirty-two teams, including the Spurs now, in NBA history have held 3-1 leads in the NBA Finals. All 31 previous team to hold a 3-1 lead have won the title.
History is made to be broken, and why not me be a part of it? That would be great. That would be a great story line, right? But we’ll see what happens. I’ve got to live in the moment, though, before we even get to that point.
-LeBron James
If the past two games are any indication of how the Heat are going to perform tonight things do not look good. The Spurs blew out the Heat in the last two games even with the Heat having home-court advantage. The spurs won Game 3 and 4 by a combined 40 points and never trailed by more than two point in either game.
The Spurs no better than to get too excite, however. Last year they though they had the championship won in Game 6 only for it to slip through their fingers with a come back from the Heat.
They’re going to come out and give us their best punch possible. We know that they’re back-to-back champs and they’ve been in this situation before and they have all the confidence in the world that they can win these games. So we have to do just the same. Come out there and say, hey, we’re going to take it little by little, quarter by quarter, and see what happens.
-Tim Duncan
Will the Heat begin to mount their comeback or will the Spurs make history tonight with a fifth NBA Championship. The Spurs are the -5.5 favorites to win this one according to the point spread. The moneyline to bet on the Spurs is set at -200. To bet on the Heat the line is at +170 over at Bovada.
