Islanders @ Capitals Prevew
One of the NHL’s most interesting games tonight is going to be a good one between the New York Islanders and the Washington Capitals, who are entering their third game of four against each other this season.
The last time these two teams squared off was way back in November. Washington won that one, 3-2, and took a 2-0 lead in the series. The Capitols will be looking to make the series impossible to tie for the Islanders tonight.
A series rivalry is not the only thing at stake tonight, as the playoff race in the Eastern Conference is a very close one. The Capitals have a chance to contend for a title this season, despite only recently snapping a seven-game winless streak. The streak was snapped just this past Sunday in an overtime nail-biter that saw the Capitals go over the Detroit Red Wings 6-5.
With that win, the Capitols will be looking to continue to dig out of the hole they put themselves in and go on to contend in the Eastern Conference and possibly for the cup.
Eric Fehr and Aaron Volpatti are both questionable for tonight’s game as they sat out practice on Monday. Losing both these players would be a huge blow to the Capitols strategy.
Meanwhile, the Islanders looked to be setting themselves up for a playoff spot very nicely after they went on a four-game hot streak and won seven of their last nine games. Â However, they recently dropped five consecutive games dropping them to last place in their division. Not only would they like to send the Capitols on another skid, but they themselves will be looking to get back on the right track in this game.
The Islanders shook up their lines for this game with the hope of fixing something that is obviously broken, considering they have only scored two goals over two games. The lineup remains the same personal wise. The  and second and third line just have been shuffled up a bit.
As with most hockey lines, it is close. The Capitols have a money line of -150 to win it, while the Islanders money line is set at +125 over at Bovada. The game starts at 7:30 p.m. ET.
