Jimmy Clausen Gives Ravens No Chance vs. Seahawks

Just when fans of the Baltimore Ravens thought things couldn’t get any worse, well, it’s time for another change at quarterback. Jimmy Clausen, who was recently picked up off waivers by Baltimore, is being prepped to start this week against the Seattle Seahawks in place of injured backup Matt Schaub.

Schaub’s miserable afternoon against the Dolphins last week came to a worrying yet fitting end, as he found himself laying on the ground clutching his shoulder, a la Tony Romo and his clavicle injury, in the loss. Unlike the Cowboys’ luckless quarterback, Schaub was able to finish the game, but rumblings immediately began concerning his availability for the following week.

As for Clausen, the man they call “Jimmy Pickles” gets to revisit the nightmare that is the Seattle defense for the second time this season. In week 3, Clausen and the Chicago Bears gifted the then-struggling Seahawks their first win of the year.

Clausen went 9/17 for a paltry 63 yards, failing to put a single point on the scoreboard in the process. He may not have turned the ball over, but the 2015 season has yet to witness a more anaemic display of offensive ineptitude. The Bears travelled all the way to the Pacific Northwest just to punt the ball ten times and return home, still winless.

The same fate could be facing hard-luck Baltimore this week, whose clash with Seattle was mercifully pulled from primetime before even Clausen threw on the purple and black for the first time.

It’s hard to imagine what might be more excruciating for Ravens’ fans this Sunday: enduring a blowout loss while already feeling rock bottom, or inexplicably keeping the game close only to lose yet another tight affair in crunch time.
