Lakers Face Must Win Game 6 To Keep Postseason Alive

The Lakers need to win two consecutive games against Phoenix to advance to the next round of the NBA Playoffs.

The 115 – 85 Game 5 loss to Phoenix is an historically bad position for both the Lakers and LeBron James.

It is the first time in LeBron James’ career that his team has lost twice in a row in the first round. One more defeat, and his 14 – 0 record in the first round of the playoffs is in danger.

The Lakers were down by over 30 points at halftime on Tuesday. It was the largest halftime deficit of LeBron James’ postseason career. As well as that, it was the second-largest halftime deficit in LA’s playoff history.

It’s the result of being unable to cope without Anthony Davis, who was out with a groin injury. The Phoenix Suns raced out to a 16 – 0 run in the first quarter and the Lakers never recovered.

It’s the most challenging first round predicament of LeBron James’ career. In spite of this, don’t bet against him to rescue the Lakers. His 33.7 points per game average is the highest in the history of playoff elimination games.

“We got our ass kicked. It’s just that simple,” James said. “They got to whatever they wanted to get to in this game. We got to be better, obviously, if we want to force a Game 7.

“I mean, it’s literally win or go home at that point,” James added. “So, you shoot all the bullets you got and throw the gun, too. So, I look forward to the environment.

“Obviously our Laker faithful are going to give us a lot of energy, and I look forward to the moment, look forward to the challenge, and we’ll see if it brings out the best in me and my teammates.”
