Lakers Must Address Turnovers And Defense Ahead of Cavaliers
The Los Angeles Lakers fell to 2 – 3 in a continuation of their erratic start to the season against Oklahoma.
The 123 – 115 defeat to the Thunder on Wednesday featured too many turnovers and a poor defensive performance. It’s been the story of the Lakers’ season so far.
The Lakers threw away a 26-point first half lead and spurned chances to tie the game in the final seconds.
Russell Westbrook had ten turnovers against OKC, following his nine turnovers against Memphis in the game before. The Lakers have conceded over 115 points in each of their 5 games so far this season. It’s the longest streak of conceding points in the beginning of a season in franchise history, according to ESPN.

“A disappointing loss, but a lesson learned,” coach Frank Vogel said. “An NBA season is a long season and a lesson for our group that you can’t ever take your foot off the gas against anyone.
“It’s not fun in the moment when you lose a game like that,” Vogel said. “But I think at the end of the day, if we’re pushed every night like this, it’s going to sharpen us. It will be good for us in the long run, but you’ve got to play through that and find a way to win.”
LA players have acknowledged it will take a while for the new-look team to reach it’s full potential. The team is integrating 12 new players, and has injuries to LeBron, Tucker, Nunn, Ariza and Ellington.

In spite of these problems, Anthony Davis wasn’t looking to pass the blame for this latest defeat.
“This ain’t no adjustment period at all,” said Davis.
“Not this game. That’s just straight on us. … This isn’t an adjustment game where I feel like it’s, ‘Oh, we’re still learning each other.’ … Nah. Not this game.”
