Lamar Jackson Plays Down Patrick Mahomes Rivalry
The thirst for narrative in the NFL is urgent, but Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson doesn’t feel like quenching it.
Lamar Jackson must be sick of hearing about Patrick Mahomes. He’s probably even more sick of playing against him, considering he’s lost every time.
Lamar Jackson has lost each of the three games he’s played against Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs.

“It’s not about me and Mahomes,” Jackson said. “Not to me, probably to everyone else. But it’s the Ravens versus the Kansas City Chiefs.”
Jackson does seem to come unstuck against the Chiefs. Last year, he threw a career-lowest 97 yards in a 34-20 loss to Kansas.Â
“They did beat us three times or whatever, but that’s in the past,” Jackson said Wednesday. “I’m not dwelling on those losses. We’re coming in Sunday night and we’re going to play.”

The shadow of Kansas looms large in Baltimore, and Marlon Humphrey is looking forward to banishing it.
“The way you go about changing it is addressing it how it is: looking at it head-on and go into the game and just try to beat them,” Humphrey said. “It’s a great opportunity for us to go out there Sunday night and show we belong on the field with them.”
