LeBron James Sets New Record, Cavs Win 5th Straight

LeBron James continued his season of setting NBA records in a win over the Brooklyn Nets on Sunday. The Cleveland Cavaliers beat the Nets 121 – 114 for its fifth consecutive win.

The Nets provided a solid challenge for the influx Cavaliers, but LeBron James came up big again. He ended the match with 37 points, 10 rebounds and 8 assists, shooting 14-of-19.

The King came alive in the 4th quarter, making several crucial plays. His dagger step-back three-pointer with 40 seconds left made the game safe for Cleveland.

LeBron is now the third NBA player to reach 2,000 points in a season for the tenth time. He joins an elite club including hall of famers Michael Jordan and Karl Malone.

The 33-year old has been a key player over the Cavaliers’ current winning streak. He is averaging 28.7 points on 55 percent shooting, 9.9 rebounds and 9.9 assists.

Kevin Love had 20 points and 15 rebounds for the Cavaliers. Joe Harris recorded a career-best 30 points for the Nets, who have lost three games in a row.

The Cavaliers are performing well in the court amid turbulent circumstances at the club. Head Coach Tyronn Lue has taken a leave of absence, and the team has suffered a number of key injuries.

In spite of this, LeBron James says the players aren’t losing sight of what’s important, via GiveMeSport:

“We’re just trying to get better. Just trying to get better. Even with everything that’s going on with our ballclub, from our coach being out to some of our players being out either because of personal reasons or for injuries, we’re just trying to continue to get better, whoever’s in the lineup. That’s our goal.”
