LeBron James Wants To Play His Final Season With His Son

LeBron James appears to have a plan for how his career will end that potentially involves his son, Bronny.

Speaking ahead of his 18th All-Star Game, LeBron James also hinted he could return to Cleveland at some point.

LeBron James played his first seven NBA seasons with the Cavaliers. The player from Akron, Ohio then joined the Heat before coming back to Cleveland for another four years.

“The door’s not closed on that,” James told The Athletic on Saturday when asked about a potential return to Cleveland. “I’m not saying I’m coming back and playing, I don’t know. I don’t know what my future holds. I don’t even know when I’m free.”

That last part wasn’t completely honest from LeBron, as his comments demonstrate he probably knows exactly when he’s free.

“My last year will be played with my son,” James said. “Wherever Bronny is at, that’s where I’ll be. I would do whatever it takes to play with my son for one year. It’s not about the money at that point.”

Bronny James plays point guard for Sierra Canyon highschool in California and is ranked as the 43rd prospect in the ESPN 60 for the 2023 class. He will be eligible to be drafted in 2024.

LeBron signed an $85 million contract with the Lakers last season. When does he become a free agent? 2024.

It seems he will get his wish to play an NBA season on the same team as his son, during his 21st season when he will be 39.
