NBA Rumors: Nets’ Brook Lopez Still On The Trading Block In Brooklyn?
One of the names most frequently mentioned in NBA trade rumors over the last few years has been veteran center Brook Lopez of the Brooklyn Nets. Lopez, who is arguably one of the most consistent centers in the NBA, has consistently been mentioned as trade bait for Brooklyn and this season is no different.
According to Marc Stein of ESPN, Lopez is on the trading block once again with the Nets having a particular price tag for his services:
The Nets, as ESPN.com reported in late December, continue to demand two first-round draft picks if you want to convince them to part with center Brook Lopez before the deadline.
Although Lopez has had issues staying healthy during his NBA career, the 28-year-old has been able to healthy over the past few seasons. Lopez has played in 72 games or more in the last two seasons and has played in 49 games for the Nets up to this point in the 2016-17 NBA campaign.
In 49 games this season, Lopez is averaging 20.5 points, 5.3 rebounds, 2.5 assists, and 1.7 blocks per game. The Stanford product has also expanded his game beyond the three-point line this season with the center attempting 5.6 per contest while shooting 33.6 from deep this season.
One of the biggest drawbacks of Lopez’s game is his inability to be a force on the glass as a seven-footer. Lopez is averaging a career-low 5.3 rebounds, and that number hasn’t gotten any higher than 8.6 which he averaged in the second year of his career.
Despite the disadvantage in the rebounding category, the Nets may get some takers for Lopez’s services leading up to the NBA trade deadline. Lopez is still a solid player in the frontcourt and one of the best scoring centers in the league today.
