Bam Adebayo thinks the Heat were ‘broken’ last season

The Miami Heat pushed their way two wins short of securing the 2020 NBA title after falling to the Los Angeles Lakers.

The impressive run in the Orlando Bubble situation featured some impressive performances, but it also led to lingering struggles last season. Star big man Bam Adebayo recently voiced that the short offseason led the team to experience many difficulties in trying to find its footing.

“We are more solution-based and trying to figure out how to get it done rather than, ‘Here is our excuses to why we can’t get it done,’” Adebayo said via Pro Basketball Talk. “But after the season, looking back at it, you was like, ‘Nah, we were broken.’”

In many ways, the Heat experienced what the Lakers went through last season, as health became a consistent problem. Meanwhile, the team struggled to play with any fluidity leading them to experience a disappointing first-round sweep against the eventual champion Milwaukee Bucks.

However, Adebayo and the Heat have put that behind this season as they hold a 12-7 record through the first 19 games. Miami split their last 10 games, but the team is showcasing more balance on both ends of the floor.

Star guard Kyle Lowry has smoothly fit into the fold behind his playing style and team-first approach. The Heat hold the opportunity to potentially make a deep push through the playoffs behind their veteran-laden roster. Time will tell, but the franchise is in a much better spot this time around than last season.
