Carmelo Anthony says ‘silence’ is not surrendering his NBA career
Since being let go by the Houston Rockets just 10 games into this past season, former All-Star forward Carmelo Anthony has struggled to find any footing to get back into the league.
This has continued through the offseason with him remaining on the open market up through this point. Despite all of that, Carmelo Anthony has voiced that he still has a desire to return to the league, according to ESPN.

“I’m in the gym every single day,” Anthony said. He also noted that “silence is not my surrender” and that he has been quiet until now because he felt like he needed to step away from the game to “reevaluate myself, reevaluate my career, reevaluate my life.”
There simply hasn’t been much interest in Anthony’s services at this point in his career as he isn’t nearly the player he once was. He has also struggled to adjust to a bench role, which may have played a part in his departure with the Rockets, while that perception may have lingered after the fact.

Anthony did indicate that he has spoken to the Los Angeles Lakers and LA Clippers. The 34-year-old may have to continue to wait on through the preseason as teams get a feel for their rosters settling for a one-year deal on a veteran’s minimum salary.
Nonetheless, it’s quite clear that Anthony has a strong desire to get back into the NBA in order to prove that he still has plenty left in the tank to perform at a high level.
