
Cavs star Evan Mobley expected to miss time
The Cleveland Cavaliers will be without All-Star big man Evan Mobley as he will miss the next two to four weeks due to a Grade 1 left calf strain.
Mobley suffered the injury in Friday’s win over the Washington Wizards, as it was determined after the game, as he experienced tightness. An MRI on Saturday officially confirmed the ailment that will keep him sidelined likely through the rest of the month of December.
Head coach Kenny Atkinson spoke about the challenges that will arise without one of their key factors.
“We’re going to get some reps at this. I just think that’s good,” Atkinson said via ClutchPoints. “When I go back to Game 2 last year against Indiana, we had three of our best players out. We could be in the first round this year, and Don [Mitchell] could have a cold or something, the flu, and he doesn’t play Game 1, so what does that look like? We’re getting really good reps with managing when you have guys out of the game.”
Mobley is amid another highly productive campaign, averaging 19.1 points, 9.3 rebounds, and 4.1 assists while shooting 49.6 percent from the floor and 35.2 percent from beyond the arc.

The Cavaliers will be getting back some depth with big man Jarrett Allen returning from dealing with two separate finger injuries on each hand that kept him off the floor since Nov. 28.
Cleveland currently sits in the eighth spot in the Eastern Conference standings behind a 15-12 record.
