Giannis Antetokounmpo clears the air on situation with Bucks
Over the last several weeks, star forward Giannis Antetokounmpo’s long-term future with the Milwaukee Bucks has come into question.
However, the two-time league MVP has once again reiterated his desire to remain in Milwaukee.
“As of today, I’m committed to the Milwaukee Bucks,” Antetokounmpo told ESPN’s Malika Andrews in an interview for NBA All-Star Weekend via ESPN. “I’m committed to the people that I work with, my teammates, the coaching staff, Coach Doc [Rivers] and [GM] Jon [Horst] in the front office.
“What I’ve said from the beginning of this year is that, out of my mouth and the way I’ve carried myself, you will never hear me say I don’t want to be a Milwaukee Buck.”
It has been nothing short of a turbulent period for the Bucks over the last several months. It all began last offseason, with reports that he was considering playing elsewhere to compete for an NBA title.
Despite that, the Bucks held onto Antetokounmpo, to which he later confirmed his commitment to the franchise.

Things took a more serious turn earlier this month as ESPN’s Shams Charania reported that the star forward had been ready for a new NBA home for months and that the team had been listening to offers for him.
There was interest from the Golden State Warriors, Miami Heat, and Minnesota Timberwolves, but no trade materialized. Antetokounmpo and the Bucks are expected to re-examine the situation over the summer.
At best, his recent comments put a Band-Aid over the matter for the next few months.
