Jalen Williams Sent a Strong Message Ahead of Thunder-Spurs Series
As the Oklahoma City Thunder prepare for the Western Conference Finals matchup against the San Antonio Spurs, it will be with All-Star Jalen Williams back in the fold.
Williams missed the last six games due to a Grade 1 strain in his left hamstring, but he voiced that he is cleared to play against the Spurs.
“It’s good that I haven’t had to rush back from my hamstring stuff at all,” Williams said on a video posted to his YouTube channel on Friday. “I’m actually taking like extra days now than from what was originally planned because we were up 3-0 [over the Lakers], so there was no point in going into this series and possibly hurting myself before we play the Timberwolves or the Spurs.
“I’m about to go into another series healthy.”
Williams suffered the injury in the third quarter of Game 2’s win over the Phoenix Suns in the first round. In his absence, the Thunder haven’t skipped a beat, as the Thunder are currently 8-0 in the playoffs, sweeping the first two rounds of the playoffs.
The second round saw Ajay Mitchell thrive in an increased role as he spearheaded the Thunder’s sweep of the Los Angeles Lakers, averaging 22.5 points and 6.0 assists in the four games.

Williams’ return brings back another prominent offensive factor that could be pivotal against the Spurs, who are coming off an impressive Game 6 win over the Minnesota Timberwolves to reach the Western Conference Finals.
All that sets the table for what should be an entertaining matchup between two of the league’s top teams.
