Kelly Oubre Jr. takes a shot at Suns ownership after Warriors trade

The Phoenix Suns recently made some major trades which will reshape the franchise on and off the floor. One of those players traded was Kelly Oubre Jr.. As a result the player is now with the Golden State Warriors after being traded to the Oklahoma City Thunder.

After landing with the Warriors, Oubre had some choice words for the Suns ownership, who he didn’t think fondly of, via ESPN.

“You just hit the nail on the head,” Oubre said, during an appearance on “Damon, Ratto and Kolsky,” on 95.7 The Game in San Francisco. “I can play for an owner — somebody who actually cares about the organization and not just the perception of the organization on the media end of it. It’s all about the foundation for me, man. You have a beautiful foundation, can build a beautiful [future].”

The Suns made the move to send Oubre to Oklahoma City who then flipped him to Golden State. The blockbuster trade netted the Suns star point guard Chris Paul.

However, the damage may be done in terms of the public perception of the team’s ownership. Phoenix has taken a lot of heat over the years for the way owner Robert Sarver has run the team. As a result, this development from Oubre comes as no surprise.

The real question now is whether Sarver has the Suns back on the right track after the moves made this offseason. The Paul and Devin Booker combo could be among the best backcourts in the NBA, but whether it’ll work remains to be seen.
