Knicks star Jalen Brunson has injury scare in win over Cavs
The New York Knicks suffered a tough blow after All-Star point guard Jalen Brunson needed help off the court on Sunday after a left knee injury.
The left knee contusion occurred on the Knicks’ first possession of the game when he came off a screen and rose for a jump shot and appeared to be in pain as he attempted the shot.
The 27-year-old struggled to walk off the court, walking with a limp to the sideline and back to the locker room.
Brunson had bumped knees with teammate Isaiah Hartenstein earlier in the possession. X-rays of his knee came out negative, erasing significant concern that he could miss extended time.
“You don’t want to see anyone go down like that. He’s one of the toughest guys in the league,” Knicks guard Donte DiVincenzo said about Brunson via ESPN. “I know he’ll be ready to go.”
The Knicks are already dealing with the injury bug with fellow All-Star Julius Randle out due to a separated shoulder while Mitchell Robinson (ankle) and OG Anunoby (elbow) remain sidelined as well.
Brunson has been the head of the snake offensive for the Knicks, where he’s truly blossomed in his first two campaigns.

He’s putting together a strong season, ranking seventh in the league with 27.2 points along with 6.6 assists while shooting 47.7 percent from the floor and 40.7 percent from beyond the arc.
If he misses any action, it will put more of the offensive workload on Divncenzo, Bogdan Bogdanovic, and Josh Hart in his absence.
