Mitch Kupchak agrees to become Hornets president, GM
Mitch Kupchak took a year off following his departure from the Los Angeles Lakers. Now, has decided to return to the NBA. Kupchak was rumored to be the favorite to land the general manager job for the Charlotte Hornets. It now appears he has taken the job.
According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, Kupchak is now the president and general manager of the Hornets.
Mitch Kupchak has agreed to a deal to become president and general manager of the Charlotte Hornets, league sources told ESPN.

Kupchak was the longtime general manager for the Lakers. He helped constructed rosters that won championships with both the Shaq-Kobe led teams as well as Kobe-Pau squads. Before being relieved of his duties with the team he both played with and ran the front office for, he was widely considered to be the best in the business at his position.
As for the Hornets, Michael Jordan’s team has struggled year after year. It’s failed to achieve in a part of the country renowned for college success with North Carolina and Duke. Kupchak is also former Tar Heel along with Jordan making that connection that much stronger between the two and an ideal fit.

Charlotte will miss the NBA playoffs once again and will look to the NBA Draft as well as free agency to upgrade the roster with Kupchak calling the shots along with Jordan. Only time will tell if this pairing is what the team needs to finally right the ship.
